September 13, 2009
Wow! It's been a long time since I've posted anything. It's 2 months minus 3 days until my half birthday. I just finished the Kingdom Series which is awesome, as well as the Knights of Arrathtrae! Great books! Our pears are ripe, and I had one for breakfast yesterday. They aren't as big as some we've had in past years, but that's because of the late frost. And it's Nancy's birthday tomorrow! 19! We're planning on going riding in the evening, because she's working tomorrow. She's having a triple chocolate trifle, and a good supper, which I'm not sure of the main course. And if anyone's interested, I could use some money down this way. *hint, *hint.

#1 Favorite Horse
Now that I'm doing my favorite flowers, #1 Daylilys #2 Lilacs, I've decided to do my favorite horses, and then maybe cars or something else. So here is my #1 favorite.
"The Gypsy Vanner, also known as a Gypsy Cob, Colored Cob, Irish Cob, or 'Tinker Horse' is a breed of horse which is usually of Tobiano coloring and has many draft horse characteristics. There is no exact known history of the Gypsy Cob. It is believed that the Gypsy Cobs are descended from a combination of Shires, Clydesdales, Friesians, and Dale Ponies with their origins in the United Kingdom and Ireland."

My #2 favorite flower, the Lilac. We have 5 bushes, of which currently 1 is in bloom. The others are still shooting up. According to Wikipedia, "Syringa vulgaris (Lilac or common Lilac) is a species of Syringa in the olive family Oleaceae, native to the Balkan Peninsula in southeastern Europe, where it grows on rocky hills." I like the smell!

Last Weekend

Last Saturday us kids went to our Aunt Helena's house, while our parents went on a mini vacation! Because Sunday was our little cousin Jayne's baby dedication, as well as we were going to have thirty-some people over, we spent most of Saturday cutting up veggies and making stew, chili, Jayne's cake, and mine. We ate my birthday cake, which was a Chocolate Pudding cake, on saturday. On Sunday morning we went to church, then got back early to get the lunch ready. There was a lot of leftovers! I spent my afternoon reading. At faspa, they sang "Happy Birthday" to me three times because first, not everybody sang, second, Jewel blew out my candle, (which was a match) and then third when I blew it out. The Friday before, my parents gave my my present, which was a designer scrapbook! Then Sunday when they got back, they presented me with a emerald pendant on a golden chain, as well, for my birthday! Now I have 364 days til my 14th!!!

Destiny!
my horse! I don't really "own" her but I named her, train her, and work with her! She's Great!!! In case you are wondering, Destiny is a dark-bay, two-year-old thoroughbred-type. That means that she looks like a thoroughbred but we are not sure what she actually is.

If you can spend all day outside without a jacket, riding bike, throwing baseballs, and having fun, without getting cold, it means that spring is here! Which it is!

Another day at the Farm
Last wednesday I went to the horse farm that I've worked at for over a year already. There I rode Rebel, a fat, little pony, around the field with my sister Nancy and friend Stephanie, at the walk and trot. After that I saddled up Ginger, the most amazing, chestnut pony ever walking the earth, and rode her is the loafing barn! That is where all the muck is, and the horses loaf. However, it was way too cold outside, thus, the loafing barn was quite a bit warmer. Due to the want of adventure, and the fact that the cold was making me crazy, I rode a little, grey pony named Starlight bareback around the barn. The adventurous part was that she only had a halter and lead rope on, and I could steer only one was, unless I flung the rope over her head to the other side. The crazy part was that is she got it in her mind to run or buck, my only defense would be to steer her in a circle! Ah...bliss...and that was another day on the back of a horse...
